Work in progress teaser

We've noticed a nice increase in internet chatter about the project, so Steve Green has roughly cut together this short sequence of work in progress. This is just a few snippets of stuff, which hopefully gives an impression of what we are doing. Some elements are simply for this trailer.

  1. Good Grud! Let's hope the producers of the new Dredd movie are watching. THIS is how it's done!

  2. You guys are doing amazing work, and this is an incredible opportunity to do something unique. Please don't muff it by overworking the compositing. There are way too many lens flares, and you've sucked the vibrancy out of it. Please pull it back a bit; I think you have magic at your fingertips, it would be such a shame to mess it up.

  4. Fantastic, lighting and editing. (although as Guano said cut back on the lens flares a tad and the crackly stuff (tech term LOL)

Is there an ETA for this or just wait and see, also how long is this film? 1/2 hr or so?

    Damn good stuff.

  5. By Grudd! This is looking ace. Super smart CG work, cracking costumes and great characters. It's already much better than the Stallone Dredd.

Lens flares, bit too much. Diffusion and grading work much better. Star Trek was the death of the lens flare.

  6. Hi thanks for the comments. This is pretty much work in progress, some elements more than others.

Some of the lens flares are simply covering up unfinished CGI, for instance, on the 'bike run' the buildings are completely untextured at the moment.

The CCTV footage won't be seen at that size, so we've over compensated with the distortions as the images will be reduced. The funky cuts won't be used as much (if at all) in the finished film.

There are also a number of different colour grades in the WIP, as we're still working out the best route to go.

Nice to know people are really studying the footage ;-)

  7. Stunning. You guys certainly know what you're doing, clearly doing the right things to make this work. "Fan film" doesn't do this justice!

  8. Wow, that looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the finished trailer and film. I'm so impressed with the Judge's uniforms and the lawmaster is amazing.

  9. Thanks Cliff!

I think the production will definitely have to invest on one your truly AMAZING commissions, when we've finished paying for everything else.

  10. really really impressive stuff, as a lifelong dredd fan, this really captures the comics that I grew up with, amazing stuff. Also as a cg artist Ican appreciate the skill in the cg work, and the uniforms are so spot on, really well designed to work in the real world.
